Maria Cappella appointed as new Nildram managing director

Maria Cappella has taken the reins as the new Managing Director at Nildram. Maria currently heads up Pipex Network Services and is taking on a new expanded role, which incorporates Nildram, as part of the newly formed Pipex Business Services.

Maria takes the Managing Director role over from Sean Stephenson, who has run Nildram since 1999, which was then acquired by Pipex in 2004. Sean is moving across to become Chief Operating Officer of Pipex Wireless, a new and exciting venture leveraging WiMax technology.

"I'm delighted to be joining Nildram, which is widely renowned to be one of the very best ISPs for small businesses and homes users," says Maria. "In surveys and research, Nildram is always amongst the top names - only a couple of weeks ago it was joint first place in review in the Guardian* for high speed broadband.

"Having worked for Pipex Network Services - our division that focuses on larger businesses - for the last two years, I know how competitive the business Broadband and voice market is. At the same time, we've seen, both at Nildram and Pipex, how Internet services really can make a difference," adds Maria. "As Nildram celebrates 11 years of service, I'm really looking forward to continuing the work that Sean Stephenson has started and helping businesses and home users make the most of their life online."

Maria has worked in the IT industry since the late 1980s, starting her career at Micro Peripherals. She was headhunted in the early nineties by entrepreneur Jan Murray and became part of the founding management team of PC World. Since then she has held a host of high profile sales and management positions at leading IT companies such as Northamber, GX Networks and XO Communications. In 2004, Maria rejoined Mike Read, her previous boss from XO Communications, at Pipex, to head up the business division Pipex Network Services.
