Troubleshooting

I'm getting slow speeds on my bonded line

  1. Check both lines are up, if a line is down then bring it up or check for a fault on that line.
  2. In order to establish which of the lines is running slowly you will need you to test them individually, if one line is slower than the other then run through the following:
  • Disconnect all PC's except one from the network and check if the problem is still occurring. You may have a PC on the network that is maxing out the connection and causing problems for other PC's.
  • On the PC, close down all software that uses an internet connection such as Peer2Peer software like Kazaa.
  • Go to http://www.adslguide.org/tools/speedtest.asp to test your download speeds.
  • If you are still getting lower than these speeds please contact support so we can investigate further.
  • If you are familiar with ping and traceroute then please run one of each to www.nildram.co.uk before contacting Support. Make a note of the phone line number which is at fault and then contact support

I can't get synchronisation (my ADSL link light is flashing)

  1. Check if your phone line has a dial tone, if not then call BT 151 for them to check the line.
  2. Check, and if possible, replace your micro-filters and internal cabling (even if the setup has worked before).
  3. Unplug all non ADSL equipment from the line including fax machines, Sky TV, etc (again, even if the setup has worked before).
  4. Try plugging your ADSL directly into the master socket via the filter with no other devices on the line.

Each line is ok on its own but when I bond them I have problems double check your router setup, if using an advanced configuration disable all advanced options to leave you with a basic setup. Full technical details available in the Technical Details and Getting Started sections.

Cisco users should ensure they're using IOS 12.3 or higher
